THE OPPORTUNITY

Galvion has a unique opportunity for a Human Factors Engineer/Specialist I to join our team in Montreal. The Human Factors Engineer/Specialist (HFE/S) is key member of the Design Engineering team and participates in the new product development and product improvement efforts for the company. The HFE/S provides expertise on product usability, fit and comfort, and contributes to the understanding of end user physical and cognitive performance.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

Integrate human factors knowledge/engineering into the product development cycle and incorporates subject matter expertise and user feedback into the design process to optimize human well-being and overall performance. Must have a proven ability to analyze data and be able to prepare clear and concise written and verbal reports. He/she needs to be a customer-oriented self-starter who can work in a dynamic and evolving team environment. He/she must be willing to learn new methodologies and approaches to quantify the trade-offs in advanced technology systems, such as Heads-Up Displays, aural (headset) perceptual performance, and tactical/operational priorities.

YOU WILL BE EVALUATED ON YOUR ABILITY TO

Under the guidance and supervision of a Senior Human Factor Engineer:

  • Investigate and analyze characteristics of human behavior and performance as it relates to the use of products and technology.
  • Develop and evaluate products and technology, by applying a user and team-centered approach.
  • Perform user testing and product assessment with both qualitative and quantitative methods, at all stages of design and development.
  • Incorporate subject matter expertise and user feedback into the design process to understand the interaction among humans and other system elements.
  • Report results and recommendations to enable interpretation and application for improved design.
  • Other duties as required.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in Human Factors/Ergonomics, Engineering (specializing in HFE), Psychology, Kinesiology, or related fields.
  • 0 to 2 years of work experience in human factors.
  • Military experience is a plus.
  • Ergonomics / Human Factors / Engineering certification (BCPE, CCPE, P.Eng, or equivalent), or ability to become certified.
  • Experience with electronic products and applications, UI and UX is a plus.
  • Demonstrated intellectual flexibility, good judgment, analytical problem solving.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
